Fasting- Days of Week

In Hinduism, each day of a week is dedicated to a particular God or deity. It is believed that observing fasts on a specific day in a week, pleases the deity associated with that day.

Sunday Fast
Sunday is dedicated to Lord Surya (Sun God).

Monday Fast
Monday is dedicated to planet Moon and Lord Shiva.

Tuesday Fast
Tuesday is dedicated to planet Mars and Lord Hanuman, Goddess Durga or Lord Kaartikey. 

Wednesday Fast
Wednesday is dedicated to planet Mercury and Lord Vithal ( an incarnation of Krishna) or Lord Ganesha.

Thursday Fast
Thursday is dedicated to the planet Jupiter, and Lord Vishnu or Lord Brahaspati.

Friday Fast
Friday is dedicated to Mother Goddess – Mahalakshmi, Santhosi Ma, Annapuraneshwari and Durga.

Saturday Fast
Saturday is dedicated to alleviating the bad influence of Lord Shani.
