According to the Devi Bhagavatam: The Eleventh Book: Chapter 3: If at the time of death, one wears Rudrâksam and dies, one attains Rudrahood. One has not to take again one's birth. If anybody dies by holding with devotion the Rudrâksa beads with a necklace and gold, he attains the Rudrahood. All should by all means hold the Rudraksa beads on their bodies.
